Photos of Tibetans “most wanted” issued by China

The photos, which appeared on top websites such as yahoo.com and sina.com, were taken from grainy footage taken during the unrest.

The state-controlled Tibet Daily later said two of the 19 alleged perpetrators had already been taken into custody. It also provided a hotline number for information from the public on those still at large.

“Lhasa police authorities are going all out to arrest the main suspects,” the newspaper said. source

In Kangding, a heavily Tibetan town in western Sichuan province, next to Tibet, roads were crowded with troops who blocked most travel. Notices on walls warned locals not to protest and to stay away from the “Dalai clique”.

“Resolutely protect the unity of the motherland, protect unity among ethnic groups,” declared one red banner. source

As news comes in of further protests and arrests in Kanhlo (in Gansu prov.) and Tolung Dechen (near Lhasa), Phayul reports that 18 Tibetans died and scores were injured when the authorities ‘opened fire’ at a protest Machu county (in Gansu) on Sunday.

Chinese Government buildings were set on fire during the protests in Machu County.
